Artistry secrets, but for everyone.
I was destined for the beauty biz. Since a little girl, I was always playing in my mom's makeup, hair tools and skincare. I was drawn to beauty products, not because of the change necessarily they make in our appearances, but the true art of how to curate a beauty routine. I was constantly experimenting from coloring my hair, to blue eyeshadow. Enhancing my features became exciting and naturally wanted to try on all my friends.
At 16, I walked into Shopper's Drug Mart to apply for a part time cashier. I was invited back for a 2nd interview, then a 3rd. I thought, 3 interviews was a bit absurd...but little did I know it would lead to the beginning of my professional career. To my surprise, they offered me a part time cosmetician position. Why me? I asked. And the Cosmetic Manager, Ann said "I've seen you in here weekly offering advice to your friends about products and know you are a natural." I never looked back! I immersed myself into the industry and later graduated from Complexions School of Makeup Art (learning everything from special FX to wig making!)
I traveled to New York for Fashion Week, Los Angeles for Award Season and paid an arm and leg to work alongside Scott Barnes to understand how he created that J LO Glow. Early in my career I became Stila Canada's National Trainer & Makeup Artist which allowed me to work with ELLE, Fashion, The KIT & meet + work with women all over Canada (which has truly been the most rewarding!) Other brands I've been able to work for include Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Lancome, Lise Watier, Cover FX, Clinique, Estee Lauder and Dior with beauty retailers like Sephora, Nordstrom, Holt Renfrew, HBC and Shopper's Drug Mart.
In 2020, my services grew into products, an extension to MELOGLOW. Since then, I've immersed myself in the nitty gritty of beauty deeper. 2020 may have shifted how we glam, but it didn't stop us!
What still gives me the drive behind this business is the BEAUTY in people, partnerships and innovations of brands.
